A great weekend of flowers and cricket in Tysoe

IT was all happening in Tysoe at weekend with the annual flower show and fête on Saturday followed by an inter-village cricket match with neighbouring Oxhill on Sunday.

Dry weather helped bring in the crowds for the show which once again saw local produce grown by Geoffrey Gibbs and Gerald Butcher among the prize winners for their selection of flowers and vegetables.

The show, held on the football fields in Tysoe, was a also family fun day which involved fairground rides, a trampoline, hand craft stalls and lots of home produce.

A horticultural society has existed in the village since 1904, and the flower show and fête was revived in the early 1960s. It has grown ever more popular in recent years.

On Sunday, Oxhill were visitors for a cricket match and ladies’ rounders game but it was the home side, Tysoe, that took the honours on the day in both contests.

The annual show raises money for local clubs and causes.
