Celebrating the Ford Cortina in Stratford

Fans of the iconic Ford Cortina celebrated the history of the vehicle at Stratford Racecourse earlier this month. The 30th Anniversary National Rally of the MK II Ford Cortina Owners Club, saw members enjoy rides out in the Cotswolds, a BBQ and an auto jumble over the weekend.

The MK 1 Owners Club also brought a large number of its members to the event, while later models and general Ford classics were also represented.

Eddie Newman, chairman of the Ford Cortina MKII Owners Club, said: “It makes me very happy to see so many people bringing their Ford Cortinas to an event like this. We clocked around 400 people attending over the weekend, with a similar number of cars there too.

“It was an excellent weekend, the runout was brilliant, probably our best ever. We’ve been holding our national rally in Stratford since about the mid 2000s, we’re a club with members all over the country so it makes sense to hold it somewhere central like Stratford.

“There are a few younger ones interested in the Ford Cortina, but must of us love it because we grew up with them.”
