Flood alerts in place for south Warwickshire rivers in Stratford, Alcester and Henley

FLOOD alerts are in place for rivers in south Warwickshire.

The rivers Avon, Arrow and Alne have all seen an increase in water levels following Storm Gerrit.

According to the government’s flood alert messaging system, which was last updated this morning (Friday), river levels have risen in Warwickshire and “consequently, the risk of flooding remains”.

For the River Avon it adds: “Flooding is affecting low-lying land and roads adjacent to the River Avon between Rugby and Bidford, including Warwick, Stratford, caravan parks and farmland.

The Rec paths by the Avon are covered with flood water.

“Please avoid using low lying footpaths and bridges near local watercourses.”

Over Alcester way, the message is similar, although the floodline reports that river levels are beginning to fall.

Again, there are warnings of flooding affecting low-lying land and roads adjacent to the River Arrow between Studley and Salford Priors and the River Alne between Henley and Alcester.

According to the Met Office, more rain is forecast for south Warwickshire today (Friday), tomorrow (Saturday) and Sunday.
