Fundraisers urged to show their big hearts
CYCLISTS are being asked to saddle up for this year’s Warwickshire Bike Ride.
It takes place on Sunday, 13th May, with proceeds to the British Heart Foundation ( BHF).
Two circular routes — 16 and 32 miles — both begin at Wren Hall in Wroxall, with cyclists setting off anytime between 9.30am and 10.30am.
There are currently around 63,000 people in Warwickshire fighting a daily battle with heart and circulatory disease, with the conditions claiming the lives of around 1,340 people in the county each year.
Among the riders will be the Elmwood BHF Fundraising Group, which is made up of Jean Lewis and her three sons, Peter, Marc and Warren.
This will be the tenth year that they have taken part to help raise money for research to help prevent and treat heart and circulatory disease, and they’re hoping to raise £5,000.
Entry costs £14 in advance and £20 on the day.
Under 16s are free, and all entrants will get a ploughman’s lunch on their return.
People can sign up at www.bhf.org.uk/warwickshirebikeride or by calling 0300 330 3322.
Karen Robinson, BHF fundraising manager for Warwickshire, said: “The Warwickshire Bike Ride 2018 promises to be a great event and the money raised helps fund ground-breaking discoveries and identify new treatments that could help save more people from the devastating effects of heart disease.”
