Join the Lions' pride

THE Shakespeare Lions has set up and will run a new resource library at Stratford Hospital for visually impaired people from across south Warwickshire.

This project, in conjunction with Warwickshire Vision Support, is one of a number of initiatives the club is involved with.

But it needs new members so it can continue to support people with special needs and their families, and help deliver its life-changing programme of community events and fundraising activities across Stratford.

The Lions group was established in 1967 to offer support to many local charitable causes, both financially and with hands-on help.

This will be the third year it has provided CPR and defibrillator training to year 12 students across the town.

Supported by Stratford Ambulance Association, this offers vital life-saving skills. Kelvin McIntosh, president, said: “The work we do really does make a difference to the people of the town and we would love to hear from prospective new members who would like to be a part of our continuing journey.

"But it’s not all about hard work and community service. We have a fantastic social calendar at the Lions and host many great events for members to enjoy.”
