Mum-of-four Denise Fairweather tragically died at the scene of Alcester house fire despite the best efforts of firefighters and medics
A WOMAN tragically died in a house fire in Alcester in the early hours of Friday (19th May).
Emergency services were called to a house in Ragley Mill Lane at 5.35am and found it well alight. Mum-of-four Denise Fairweather, 58, and her adult son were still inside.
Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service said that firefighters “acted quickly to tackle the blaze” and entered the property using breathing apparatus.
A spokesperson said: “Sadly, it quickly became apparent nothing could be done to save her and she was confirmed dead at the scene.”
Her son was treated for the effects of smoke inhalation before being taken to the Alexandra Hospital, Redditch. He was discharged later that day.
Warwickshire Police said the death is not being treated as suspicious and a file has been prepared for the coroner.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
