FIRE destroyed a rangers hut in St Nicholas Park, Warwick in the early hours of this morning, Saturday.

At around 3.15am two crews from Warwickshire Fire Control responded to several calls reporting that a building was on fire in the park in Banbury Road. They used hose reels , hose reel jets and hydrants to extinguish the fire.

The one-storey building is approximately eight meters by eight metres and was completely destroyed in the blaze.

The cause of the fire is not yet known and an investigation is continuing.

A statement from Warwick District Council said: "Unfortunately the rangers hut in St Nicholas Park has suffered severe damage due to a fire in the early hours of this morning.

"Huge thanks to Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service for their prompt response."

Security fencing has now been put in place, although the footpath immediately around the rangers hut remains closed.
