STRATFORD’S Shakespeare Hospice has received high praise from the Care Quality Commission following a report into its service.

The hospice was rated good in all areas in a report published this month with inspectors also finding that it is outstandingly well led.

The report found staff were enthusiastic and motivated to provide high quality care in a compassionate way, with patients and their families speaking highly about the support they were offered.

It also shined a light on the Hospice’s ‘holistic approach to providing care and support’ with its physiotherapy, complementary and occupational therapy.

The Hospice’s ‘Young People’s Hub’, which supports young people with life-limiting conditions during the transitional period between children’s and adult’s hospices was also praised in the report.

The Shakespeare Hospice is the only adult hospice in the UK to have developed this service and contributed to the hospice winning the GSK IMPACE Award earlier this year.

Chief executive of The Shakespeare Hospice, Angela Arnold, said: “I’m so pleased with the CQC’s findings in their visit to The Shakespeare Hospice. We are so proud of everything we achieve here and the services that we provide.

“The team works really hard to maintain the high standards of care and all their hard work and dedication really shows. It’s a great feeling for the whole team, knowing we are providing the very best and that it is being recognised.”

Kate Hall, Head of Clinical Services at the hospice, added: “Here at the hospice our aim is to provide high quality compassionate care for both young people and adults in our community who are living with a life-limiting illness and those who matter to them.

“I am delighted that the CQC review has awarded the hospice a Good rating overall with an Outstanding rating for how the services are led.

“This is due to the highly motivated and skilled team of staff and volunteers in both the clinical and non clinical services. I am so pleased that their commitment and hard work has been recognised and we will continue to respond to the needs of our community.”
