Stratford’s single men are needed… for speed dating
SINGLE men are wanted for a speed-dating session aiming to bring Stratford locals together.
The free event on Sunday February 11th is at the Rose and Crown in Sheep Street and will run from 7pm till 10.30pm.
Organiser Paul Evans, who’s limiting the romantic rendezvous to 60, wants to make sure the split is balanced with 30 women and 30 men.
He came up with the idea in a bid to create a friendly and relaxed atmosphere for people to come together and chat, with the chance of making friends or maybe meeting their perfect partner.
The sessions will be for 25- to 60-year-olds, with events eventually split into different age bands so that people from every age group have a chance to join in and the age limit may be extended.
Paul, 49, told the Herald: “Years ago, all the pubs used to be full of locals, so what I wanted was a place in Stratford where locals could meet people.
“I thought a speed-dating night would be the perfect solution and the Rose and Crown was more than happy for us to have it there.”
He added: “It would be great to fill the event.”
So far, Paul, who works in security and has lived in Stratford all his life, says a lot of women have said they’re interested but the matchmaking event needs more men to even up the numbers.
