Stratford's Monopoly board game launches on Thursday
THE waiting is nearly over and the official launch of Stratford-upon-Avon’s very own Monopoly board takes place this Thursday at The Royal Shakespeare Theatre.
Speculation continues to mount as to which well-known landmarks in the town have earned their place on this unique edition of the iconic game and join the likes of The Royal Shakespeare Theatre, Holy Trinity Church and The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust properties – all will be revealed on Thursday.
What is known is that a Stratford hotelier has been chosen to be the Stratford Monopoly VIP (Very Important Player) and will receive one of the first editions of the board game – hot off the press - at the official launch.
Kevin Hallworth owner of The Croft Guest House in Stratford-upon-Avon becomes the Stratford Monopoly VIP and says he is “very excited and looking forward” to receiving his version of the game from the Mayor of Stratford, Cllr Juliet Short.
“I’ve run this hotel for 30 years and it’s an accolade and achievement to be proud of - although I did finish second in Stratford in Bloom a couple of years ago!” Kevin told the Herald.
