Alcester Town Rangers celebrate after winning new kit in national competition

ALCESTER Town Rangers are dressed to impress after winning a full team kit through E.ON’s Power Kicks competition.

The under-13 footballers are now proudly wearing their new team kit in the club’s colours for their matches in the Evesham Ambassador League.

Benny Esler is involved with coaching the squad, which includes his son Matthew. He entered the competition on behalf of the boys.

Benny said: “The kit has come as a real boost for the boys. The team has been together since they were under eight and they are doing really well, currently fourth in the league and with games in hand compared to some of the teams above them.

“Alcester Town FC is well established in our community, but it’s these current youngsters who will hopefully come to play their part in keeping the club going long into the future.

"We actually originally had too many players coming through from the under seven and under eight levels for a single under nine team, so we put together the Rangers as a development squad to ensure everyone got playing time, not just those selected for the junior squad.

“We take pride in providing organised football training and competitive games for local boys and girls.

"Our aim is to encourage these youngsters’ passion for the beautiful game and new members are always welcome, just make contact through the club website alcestertown.co.uk for more information.”

Michael Lewis, chief executive of E.ON, said: “I hope this new kit brings the Alcester Town Rangers luck in their remaining matches this season!

“We love running initiatives like this because just as we’re helping our customers in the way they need it most - helping them to only use the energy they need, when they need it, we try to work in a similar way in our communities, providing the support to local groups that they tell us they need.”
