Awards keep coming for Jack and Sophie

RISING stars Jack Sumners and Sophie Evans-Lee added to their growing collection of accolades at the Pride of Stratford awards night last Friday.

The duo were named as joint winners of the Young Achiever of the Year award during a glittering ceremony at the Crowne Plaza hotel.

It was the second award in a matter of weeks for the pair, who were both winners at the Stratford District Council Sports Awards last month.

Stratford AC’s Sumners picked up the Junior Sports Person Award, while Evans-Lee, who competes for Riding for the Disabled, was a joint winner of the Junior Para-sports Person Award.

Sumners’ coach at Stratford AC, Paul Bearman, said: “Jack is totally committed to his athletics and has incredible drive to be the best he can be.

“His level of consistency and very high technical ability in the hurdles and long jump is superb in what has been a fantastically successful 2017.

“Jack is enjoying his success and recognition and deservedly so, but the challenge for all of us now is the transition into the junior and hopefully senior ranks for both Jack and his training partner Ollie Cresswell to emulate Andrew Pozzi’s success as one of the world’s best.”
