Bexson back to form in European Championships

EMMA Bexson saw a return to form with a successful race in the European Championship Middle Distance Triathlon on Saturday.

The Stratford Triathlon Club member finished fifth in her age category in Herning, Denmark, with an overall time of 5.02.13.

The race was unusual, in that part of the run goes through Herning’s local shopping centre.

Bexson completed the 1.9km swim in 33.58, emerging from Lake Fuglsang 14th in the women’s 40-44 age category.

A strong effort on the 90km bike saw her move into eighth position in her age category.

However, Bexson had saved the best for her run, with incredibly consistent splits pushing her up to fifth.

Afterwards, although frustrated by not managing a sub five-hour race, Bexson was pleased with her confident performance, saying that lessons were learnt from April’s race in Seville by a marked improvement in fuelling over the course of the Herning race.
