Big FA Cup incentive for Town - and replay rivals, says Adams
FOOTBALL
CARL Adams says the incentive could not better for his Stratford Town side – and opponents Scarborough Athletic – after the draw handed the winners of tomorrow’s replay a home tie.
The sides meet again at the MoodChimp Stadium tomorrow night (7.45pm) and the winners will then entertain Northern Premier Division One North Hyde United in the fourth and final qualifying round, 90 minutes from the first round proper.
Hyde, who defeated Boston Town 3-2 in the last round on Saturday, lie tenth in the table, six place below Scarborough, and a league below Southern Premier Stratford.
Town manager Adams said: “It’s a great draw – for both sides.
“Scarborough will now be massively up for the replay because they would be playing a team from the same level., a team they will feel they can beat
“For us, it’s an exciting draw too because we have the chance to play at home in the fourth qualifying round, against a team from a league below.”
Town have never progressed to the final qualifying stage in their history.
Adams hopes the fans will turn up in noisy numbers to cheer on the side against Scarborough.
Stratford were just minutes away from progressing on Saturday, only to concede an injury-time leveller and they need to finish off the job on Tuesday night.
