Brooks beats Oakey to claim Stratford Classic glory

ANGLER Steve Brooks eased to victory in the Garbolino Stratford Classic open match last Sunday.

This was a 60-peg match held on the Lido, Recreation Stretch, Lucy’s Mill and Seven Meadows, with £1,200 in prize money up for grabs.

Brooks won with a huge 42lb 11oz haul of chub, with the largest one weighing in at 5lb 15oz. All were caught on the waggler.

Second place went to Shipston angler Rob Oakey, who caught 24lb 4oz also on waggler.

Dean Haynes was third (22lb 4oz), while fourth went to Les Ashby, who caught 16lb 12oz.

Meanwhile, the Shipston Anniversary match took place at Halford Bridge.

Robert Reynolds claimed glory in tough conditions with a haul of 10lb.

Second was Andy Simpson (6lb 6oz) and third was Les Haines (5lb 9oz).
