FENNY Compton duo Callum and Abi Beale are celebrating after enjoying success on the national and world stage in hovercraft racing.

Abi, 15, was recently runner-up in the UK Junior National Hovercraft Racing Championships, following up her runner-up spot in July's World Championships.

Brother Callum, 16, is now the Formula 50 UK national, European and world champion in his first year in the adult classes.

Hovercraft racing is a unique motorsport, racing over both land and water, they race with no brakes at speeds up to 70mph.

Callum and Abi are the fourth generation of their family to be involved in the sport, their grandfather having been an instrumental part of racing craft design in the early days and the first person to cross the channel in a single seat hovercraft back in 1972.

In the UK, hovercraft race meetings are organised at venues all over the country by the Hovercraft Club of Great Britain www.hovercraft.org.uk
