WASPS Rugby fans in Stratford-upon-Avon are being given a helping hand with the launch of a new travel service to the Ricoh Arena – starting with a free journey offer.

The Aviva Premiership club are teaming up with coach company Zeelo to make it easier for those travelling to the Ricoh Arena from the town.

Barney Williams, co-founder at Zeelo, said: “Nothing beats the atmosphere of match day at the Ricoh Arena, and through our partnership with Wasps we will enable as many fans as possible to enjoy that experience, with the least hassle involved in getting to the stadium.”

The company is already helping fans of Premier League clubs to support their team and now Zeelo will officially launch its partnership with Wasps on Sunday, 4 February, when they take on Leicester Tigers at the Ricoh Arena in the Anglo-Welsh Cup (1pm kick-off).

Fans looking to travel from Stratford-upon-Avon will be offered a free return journey from the park and ride car park just off Bishopton Lane for the match as a gesture from Zeelo, which is hoping to expand its operation to take in more routes.

Scott Paul, head of ticket sales at Wasps and the Ricoh Arena, said: “This is a really exciting partnership using modern day technology to make it easy, convenient and affordable for our fan base to follow the team.

“We have trialled this service with Zeelo from Stratford-upon-Avon for our last two home games and it has been a resounding success, selling out a 49-seater coach on both occasions – and as a result we are rolling this out further.

“Zeelo are doing some really exciting things already in terms of fan engagement and are very forward thinking in terms of their operations.

“The hope is that, in the long run, we will be able to add more services to the portfolio which will make the Ricoh Arena much more accessible to Wasps supporters so that they can enjoy match days in comfort and with like-minded supporters.”

Barney Williams, co-founder at Zeelo, added:Zeelo is built around our proprietary AI platform RINA, which scours the web and finds any gaps in the existing transport network between sports fans and their home stadium.

“We have built close relationships with leading coach operators Johnsons and Westbus to put on services which take Wasps fans from near their homes right to the team’s front door.

“We’ve cut our teeth with a number of football teams, carrying tens of thousands of enthusiasts last year alone.

"Wasps fans who might have previously had to take long and expensive journeys can now take an easy coach journey with like-minded people to and from the match, and with our app they can even track their coach from afar so there is no stress!”
