Stratford Town manager Gavin Hurren says entertaining football is key ahead of home Southern League Premier Central matches against Harborough and Banbury

Stratford Town boss Gavin Hurren wants to send fans home happy - whether they win or not.

The Bards are looking forward to back-to-back home games in Southern League Premier Central.

They meet Harborough on Saturday (3pm) and take on local rivals Banbury on Tuesday (7.45pm).

Gates have been good this season, averaging almost 500, with supporters enjoying what they’re seeing.

“The fans are growing each week - the attendances are brilliant,” said Hurren.

“It’s very important we try and represent the club and the town the way I want us to and send our fans home happy every week regardless of the result.

“It’s all about performances and how we apply ourselves and the fans have been outstanding.

“All through last year, pre-season and coming into this season, the attendances have been mega and it means everything to us that we try and send them home happy.

“It’s so nice to see all the families.

“We’re a community club, it’s so friendly, they love their football and if we keep playing the way we can, I’m sure the fans will keep coming.”

Stratford are in good spirits following a 2-0 win at high-flying Stourbridge last time and go into the Harborough game refreshed following a weekend off.

The Bards are two points clear of their opponents in 10th place after an encouraging start to the season that’s seen them lose only two of their opening seven games.

Midweek opponents Banbury, meanwhile, are currently outside the play-offs on goal difference following their relegation.

“We’ve got a really big week coming up with the two homes games and then Halesowen away next Saturday,” said Hurren.

“They’re good games to look forward to and we’ll be training hard.

“We’ve taken four points from the last six and that was a big performance to win at Stourbridge, who were top of the league.

“Hopefully we can take that into the next three games.

“Any back-to-back wins in this league are brilliant.

“We’ve got to take each game as it comes and play to our strengths and to the standards the boys set themselves.

“When you dip below those, this league is punishing.

“That’s what we found over the Bank Holiday weekend when we didn’t perform at our best.

“It’s a tough league, there’s some fantastic teams and good players and you’ve got to be at it every single week.

“If we play the way we can and apply ourselves the way we can, hopefully we’ll come away with some positive results.”

Stratford have signed goalkeeper Jake Weaver from Rushall to provide competition for Callum Smith.

Hurren is also looking to get a couple more signings over the line before the weekend.
