Izzy bags two golds at West Midlands Youth Championships
IZZY Callaghan stole the show as 14 Stratford Sharks swimmers achieved qualification times at the recent West Midlands Regional Youth Championships at Coventry.
Several Sharks members reached finals, but it was Callaghan who took gold in the 15-year-old girls age group.
The youngster stormed to victory in both the 100m and 200m breaststroke events.
Sharks coach, Dirk Cox, said: “Breaststroke is considered by many to be the most technical of swimming strokes and Izzy is the perfect exponent of this. She fully deserved her golden weekend.”
Callaghan, who is a pupil at St Benedict’s RC High School in Alcester, is now training hard in preparation to represent Great Britain as part of the swimming team at the FISEC Games in France in July.
