ANDY Jones bagged the top prize as Stratford Golf Club hosted their first ever Warwickshire Winter Pro-Am, with more than 100 golfers taking part.

Kicking off the winter season of seven events played at different venues across the region, some of Warwickshire’s finest PGA professionals entered the tournament bringing their own team of members from their respective clubs.

Jones, of Forest of Arden Country Club, scooped the individual prize with an excellent score of seven-under-par 65.

Resident assistant professional Fred Jewsbury tied for second on three-under, with Rob Bardsley, of Moor Hall Golf Club.

In the team event, local knowledge proved advantageous with Jewsbury’s team of John Jewsbury (Ladbrook Park) and Stratford members Garry Clarke and Jonny Worthy winning by just one shot from a Lea Marston Golf Club team headed by professional Darren Lewis.

Meanwhile, Stratford GC were also present at The Warwickshire Golf Awards Dinner at The Belfry last Friday in support of members Rob Copperthwaite, who was the amateur men’s Midland Order of Merit champion and Morgan Jackson, who was successful in the county team in 2016.
