Jonny's a Worthy winner of Town Bowl
FIVE handicapper Jonny Worthy shot two excellent gross scores of 74 and 72 for a two-round nett total of 136 to win the Stratford-on-Avon Golf Club Town Bowl.
Considered by many at the club to be the most prestigious individual event of the men’s calendar, Worthy was one shot behind first round leaders David Walley and David Whitlow, and tied with Nick James.
With the majority of the field tiring on the second day, Worthy soared ahead and eventually won by eight shots from nearest rival Jamie Brookes (144) and Nick James in third on 145.
Captain David Gladwin, who finished in joint fourth presented the trophy in front of the clubhouse with many members present.
Patrick Lloyd was also in fine form this week, winning the seniors’ section major, The Freddie Walker Trophy, with a score of nett 69.
