JULIAN Marcus won the Captain’s Day competition at Stratford-on-Avon Golf Club with a sublime level par score of 72, scoring 45 points from his nine handicap.

It was Marcus’s lowest score in his 25 years at the club. Lloyd Lewis and Paul Andrews were runners-up on 42 points with the following players shooting a four under score of 40 points: Martin Glanfield, Andrew McArthur, Tom Priest, Graham Carter, Paul Wilson-Gunn and Phil Oliver.

Many of the 150 competitors returned to the clubhouse at 7.30pm where club captain Brent Harding presented Marcus with the trophy.

Reports from both members and visitors are that the course is in its finest condition for many years.

This was certainly the feedback from the recent Millennium Bowl, where Stratford finished runners-up to Brocton Hall. Other clubs included Northants County, Kedleston Park and The Leicestershire.
