ONE of Britain’s most successful female golfers was guest speaker at Stratford-on-Avon Golf Club last week.

Alison Nicholas was a leading light in the success of the European Ladies’ Solheim Cup team both as a player and captain.

Members and guests had the opportunity to take part in a Q&A with the 1997 US Women's Open champion.

Meanwhile, Hugh Begg won the Seniors Cup last weekend, 18 years after previously lifting the title. The event is played by those members over the age of 60.

Having been ten over par after 11 holes, Begg then played very impressive par golf over the final seven holes to shoot a gross 82 /69, sneaking victory by a single shot from John Walker 80/70.

John Strickland (89/71) and Roger Blackburn (84/13) were third. More than 80 players competed in the event.

The seniors' club team were also in action, continuing their unbeaten start to the season with a fine 4-2 victory at Coventry Golf Club.
