No room for error as Stratford bid to avoid relegation

SKIPPER Mike Brown says Stratford must win their final two games to stand any chance of avoiding an immediate return to Birmingham Premier League Division Three.

Last weekend’s wet weather saw their game against Penkridge abandoned after just four-and-a-half overs, while relegation rivals Coventry NW managed to get a game on and picked up 20 points against Wombourne.

It leaves Coventry 20 points ahead of Stratford in the league table, while Oswestry, whose game was also abandoned, sit 11 points above Brown’s side.

Stratford’s final two games are against C&R Hawks and Coventry and Brown says there will be no room for error as they bid to remain in division two.

“We’re at the stage where we have to win our last two games and hope other results go our away,” he said.

“If we do that, then we’ll be giving ourselves every chance of staying up.

“We still have momentum from beating Halesowen the previous week and we started very well on Saturday, so hopefully we can carry those performances through to the next two weeks.”

Stratford: Dane Kirby, Rob West, Jake Salmon, John Price, David Bailey, Ben Pigott, Perry Derrick, Chris Calcott, Mike Brown, James Urquhart, Adrian Witts.
