Norton Lindsey set bar high ahead of new season
NORTON Lindsey & Wolverton Cricket Club have set the bar high ahead of this summer’s 2018 Cotswold Hills League campaign.
A storming return to the Premier Division by the first team saw them just miss out on the league title.
The seconds also tasted success, achieving promotion to Division Two, whilst the third team’s debut allowed the club to introduce many talented youngsters to competitive cricket.
James Pyatt remains skipper of the first XI, supported by the talented Martin Perfect as vice-captain, confident that they can take the top trophy in 2018.
The second and third teams will again be led by run-machine Dan Fell and evergreen Martin Hall, assisted by the experienced Steve Rushton and the ageless Stuart Prout-Richardson.
Once again, the club has a full weekend and midweek fixture list, and an under-13 team will compete in the Cotswold Junior League for the first time.
Investment in club facilities continues, following the installation of two new all-weather practice nets last summer.
Plans this year include the complete redevelopment of the changing rooms, and the introduction of a new patio area for social events.
Meanwhile, the club’s reputation for the quality of its teas continues to be acknowledged by visiting teams.
The spring tour to the west country has attracted more than 20 players, allowing preparation for all aspects of the new season.
The next event is the club AGM on Friday, 16th February, 7pm at the clubhouse, followed by the start of winter nets on Friday 23rd February, 6pm, at the Warwickshire College, Henley-in-Arden.
