Parker and Kirby keep Stratford Town Youth on top

STRATFORD Town Youth continue to lead the MFYL Premier Division South after coming from behind to beat Rugby Town 2-1 on Wednesday evening, writes Bryan Hale.

Rugby went ahead with a speculative long range effort, but the prolific Dylan Parker was on the mark to equalise for Town with his 14th league goal of the season to make it all square at half-time.

And in a closely-fought second half it was George Kirby who hit the decider to keep Town in top spot.

Town have a break from league action in the coming week as they begin their defence of the MFYL League Cup, which they won for the first time ever last season when beating Oadby Town in the final held at Bromsgrove Sporting’s Victoria Ground back in May.

Along with the other Premier Division teams, Town enter this competition in the third round and they have been handed a home tie next Thursday against Cheltenham Town, who are currently heading the Southern Division. Kick-off time at the DCS is 7.45pm.
