MONDAY’S meeting at Stratford has been abandoned because of a waterlogged course.

The meeting attracts good attendances as it takes place the day before the start of the Cheltenham Festival, 30 miles from the Gloucestershire course.

But heavy rain has forced clerk of the course Nessie Lambert to call off Monday’s card.

“We’ve had persistent rain on ground that was already very tender. It’s a great shame,” Lambert said.

“This is always a good meeting for us.”

All current Stratford annual members have been offered free entry to Taunton Racecourse on Monday, 14th March, on production of their current metal badge.
