Ragley boys savour a season to remember

ALCESTER and Ragley Park are celebrating after a hugely successful cricket season draws to a close.

The youth team, which is one of the strongest in the Midlands consisting of more than 100 cricketers from the ages of nine to 15, had the added boost this year after being sponsored by the world famous charity team, the Bunbury Cricket Club.

The under-13s this year won the Cotswold Hills League Cup at Evesham CC, beating the likes of Bretforton, Bidford and Bredon on their way to glory.

This year’s man of the season award for all his hard work and determination throughout the year went to Ollie Adams, who was awarded a Gunn and Moore bat by club sponsor and member of the Bunbury CC, Harry Dyke.

Biggest six of the year went to Dan Lee, best batsman went to Harvey Taylor, while special awards also went to under-11 and under-13 captains Jasper Noon, Nathan O’Neil and Jack Biddle — the latter also winning moment of the season for taking three wickets in three balls.

Bertie Sainsbury Plaice took catch of the season and most improved player of the season went to Will Freke.

The under-11 players of the year were Adam Sharpiro and Toby Magnall respectively. Sharpiro for his bowling and Magnall for his 37 runs off four overs.
