Rance happy as Stratford begin to gel
DIRECTOR of rugby Tom Rance feels Stratford are beginning to gel following Saturday’s seven-try success at Kenilworth.
Scores from Craig Voisey, Andy Conway, Sam Kirby, Dan Whitby (2), Dave Pritchard and Neil Davies steered the Black and Whites to a 38-24 win.
The victory follows the previous weekend’s thrashing of Hereford, and Rance now feels his side will only improve as the season continues.
He said: “We are starting to gel a lot more as the games go on, so hopefully when the sterner tests come we can use this experience from these games.
“We probably leaked a few too many points again. The points scored against us weren’t particularly well worked tries.
“We gave them 14 points really, so take that off the score and it looks an entirely different game. Realistically, they were not in it.”
Rance has been busy building a ‘one club’ atmosphere at Pearcecroft this season and it appears to be working so far.
He added: “In this league it’s all about building a squad. As time goes on, we’re going to be very much a squad of players.
“You see other teams say they haven’t got players available and they see that as a weakness, but I see that as a bit disrespectful to their other players.”
Stratford will look to make it three wins out of three with a trip to Moseley Oak this Saturday. Moseley were billed as one of the title favourites pre-season, but they have lost both of their games so far.
