FC STRATFORD skipper James Robbins has decided to leave the club and re-join Alcester Town ahead of the 2017/18 season.

Robbins joined Dave Poulson’s side midway through last season from Midland League Division One side Studley.

Speaking of Robbins’ departure, Poulson said: “Robbo has decided to leave us. I’ve had a long chat with him and completely understand his seasons for this. I would like to thank him for his time with us — he’s a quality player with a great attitude.”

Robbins returns to a club much closer to his Studley home and a side he managed in 2015-16.

“We spoke about signing a player of James’ quality throughout last season,” said Alcester player-boss Danny Janes.

“James saved the first team from potentially folding by taking over as manager, I am sure there is no one else who would like to see the club succeed more than him.”

Alcester have also confirmed the signing of another former Studley player, midfielder Danny Byford.
