STRATFORD’S Ruby Compton and Bidford's Alice Shapiro were part of the Worcestershire Gymnastics Academy team that claimed five gold medals at the Malcolm Gee Shield event competition at Evesham.

The club sent nine teams to compete, many in the novice section as seven of the nine teams were from the Academy’s recreational programme.

Aside from the five golds, the Academy claimed two silvers and one bronze. The novice under-9 girls finished a respectable fifth in their first external competition.

More than 50 teams competed against each other on the day, in several age and ability categories.

The four competition pieces were floor, vault, trampette and bars, with the top three scores counting.
