Schofield wins Stratford Golf Club's Senior Open
MORE than 100 golfers from clubs as far away as Cornwall competed in Stratford-upon-Avon Golf Club’s Seniors’ Open last Friday.
The competition has been held for senior golfers over the age of 55 for the past 16 years. Competitors enjoyed ideal weather conditions, producing some excellent scores and an extremely tight finish.
Ten prizes were equally divided between the following two divisions — first division for handicaps 0-15 and second division 16-28.
The overall winner was Glen Schofield from Stratford with 43 stableford points, just one more than second-placed Roderick Williams, from Robin Hood Golf Club, both from division two.
On Saturday, members competed for the Coronation Cup, an event played over 36 holes in one day.
John Speakman ran out the combined nett score winner (138) by three shots from David Morgan (141). Roger Morgan and Andrew McArthur were tied in third place, one shot further back.
