STRATFORD Town manager Carl Adams was delighted with his side’s second-half response as they secured a 1-0 Birmingham Senior Cup victory at Stourbridge on Monday night.

After a poor first half performance, Adams said he put “a bit of a rocket up them” at half-time and the team responded with a much-improved display.

“I was disappointed with our first-half display,” said Adams, who picked a strong team for the game at Amblecote.

“We allowed them too much room and time to play and I felt that needed addressing.

“They had a bit of a rocket up them, but to their credit they responded brilliantly.

“All of the players put in a great shift and played their part in a terrific win for us.”

Town begin their FA Trophy campaign this weekend. Adams’ men take on Evo-Stik Northern League Premier Division side Grantham Town in a first qualifying round tie at the DCS Stadium (3pm).
