Sheldon leaves Stratford Town to sign for Hednesford

JAMIE Sheldon has left Stratford Town and signed for Hednesford Town.

The attacking midfielder leaves Stratford after making 116 appearances, citing a change in personal circumstances as the reason for his departure.

During his two spells at the DCS, the 24-year-old scored 35 goals, many of which were his trademark long-range specials.

"I'm sad to leave the club after a good three seasons," said the former Leamington man.

"It's a place where I enjoyed playing, scoring and winning games. For personal reasons I decided to join a team closer to home to cut out travelling time.

"I've made a lot of friends over the years I played for Stratford and I'd like to thank the club and fans for their support.

"I wish the team all the best for the rest of the season."

Hednesford boss, Paul Casey, said: "As soon as we made a seven-day approach for Jamie, it was a club that he was very interested in joining.

"We look forward to seeing him play like he has done for Stratford."

Sheldon follows in the footsteps of former Town midfielder Michael McGrath, who signed for Hednesford in pre-season. McGrath left after just over a month at Keys Park and now plays for Hereford FC.
