Shipston boss Hedderman lost for words after thrashing

MANAGER Steve Hedderman says Shipston Excelsior got “the hammering they deserved” at Moors Academy on Saturday.

Moors cruised into the next round of the Challenge Vase as goals from Montel Okoro (2), Tyrese Shade (2), AJ Andrews, Callum Coyle and Blessing Nhundu saw them claim an 8-3 win.

Shipston have now leaked 15 goals in their last three games, after conceding three at Barton United and four against FC Stratford.

“We had a nightmare day and we got the hammering we deserved," Hedderman admitted.

“We lost seven players through illness, suspension and injury.

“For two minutes we were brilliant, we pressed, we did what we talked about, and then we just imploded.”

The game was as good as over within 14 minutes as Moors moved into a 3-0 lead.

They made it 4-0 before half-time and went 5-0 up in the second half before Shipston enjoyed a mini-revival.

Chris Mills’ double and Jake Harris’s free-kick made it 5-3, but a rampant Moors went on to score another three to seal an 8-3 success.

Hedderman added: “Throughout the course of the game we just gave the ball away. We just didn’t seen to compete. Hopefully that’s everybody’s bad performance all in one game.

“Saturday evening was not a very pleasant one, I could not even speak.”

Shipston are back in league action this Saturday with a trip to the Vale Stadium to take on Castle Vale Town.
