STRATFORD have appointed former Leamington head coach Tom Greevy as their new director of rugby.

Greevy replaces Tom Rance, who stepped down from the role in April after a successful five years at Pearcecroft.

The 36-year-old brings a wealth of coaching experience with him to Stratford, having enjoyed stints at the likes of Birmingham and Solihull Hornets and the Irish Exiles.

“I’m really excited to be taking the lead and getting involved with a strong community club with a fantastic atmosphere and great players,” said Greevy.

“Tom Rance has done a great job and I am looking forward to building on his hard work and make further strides forward.

“It’s the right timing for me. I’ve done quite a lot of coaching and after hanging up my boots it’s now time for a full-time coaching role.”

Greevy has high hopes for next season and he is confident the Black and Whites can improve on last season’s ninth-place finish in South West 1 East.

“I would like to say we can finish in the top five,” Greevy said.

“I watched a couple of Stratford games last year and we definitely have the potential to do better than what we have done so far. As long as we go in the right direction, I’ll be happy.”
