Stratford bid for Colts Cup final glory against Old Leamingtonians
STRATFORD under-18s will take on Old Leamingtonians u-18s in the final of the Bob Coward Colts Cup final at Coventry Rugby Club on Monday.
The long-running competition, first presented as the Coventry Standard Cup in 1923, sees Stratford in the final for the second year running, whilst their south Warwickshire rivals appear for the first time.
Having lost to Broadstreet in the last few seconds in 2017, Stratford return to the Butts Arena showpiece following wins at home to Barkers Butts and a semi-final success at last season’s double-winners Broadstreet.
Old Leams have had a more difficult passage. They were initially eliminated at Newbold following a 5-5 draw, but the hosts were found to have breached regulations, giving OLs a second bite at the cherry.
They progressed with a comfortable win at home to Kenilworth, before overcoming a strong Old Coventrians outfit in the semi-final. Kick-off is at 7.30pm. Admission is £5 on the gate, with under-18s and concessions paying £3. Under-16s go free.
