Stratford cyclist set world record at Paralympics

STRATFORD-UPON-AVON'S sole Paralympian Megan Giglia has set a new world record and guaranteed herself at least a silver medal on the opening day of the 2016 Games.
The 31-year-old smashed her own world record to reach the final of the women's C1-3 3000m individual pursuit in Rio earlier today, Thursday.
Her time in the velodrome of four minutes 3.544 seconds was over three seconds faster than her own previous world record.
She will ride off for gold against American Jamie Whitmore later on Thursday.
Megan, a fitness instructor, only took up cycling after suffering a stroke in 2013.
