Stratford juniors dominate Warwickshire Children's Triathlon
STRATFORD Triathlon Club’s juniors claimed five podium finishes at the Warwickshire Children’s Triathlon at Warwick School.
The club’s Tri-Star Start athletes (50m swim, 1,000m bike, 600m run) set the tone for the day. Toby Doggett finished in seventh in the boys’ race, while Juliette Marshall put in a superb display to claim first in the girls’ race.
A strong bike leg put Marshall into the lead and she held her nerve with a strong finish on the run to register her first triathlon win.
Next up were the Tri-Star 1 athletes (150m swim, 2,000m bike, 1,200m run).
The girls were represented by Georgia Pridham (10th), Isobel McArthur (15th), Kate Pridham (19th) and were led home by Molly Bullock, who finished in first place for the second successive race keeping her in second place overall in the West Midlands Junior Triathlon Series and within touching distance of the summit.
Bullock started strongly again in the swim, coming out of the pool with a lead that she held for the entire race.
The Tri-Star 1 boys were represented by Henry Doggett (19th), Theo Skirvin (11th), Oscar Fines-Allin (3rd) and Jake Deaner (2nd) with Fines-Allin and Deaner taking deserved places on the podium.
The next to race were the Tri-Star 2 category (200m swim, 4,000m bike, 1,800m run) who were represented by Cameron Black (12th male), Ellie Deaner (8th female), Freya Fines-Allin (13th female), Charlotte Marshall (15th female), Lucy Sainsbury (16th female) and Scarlett Mackenzie (24th female).
The final race was the Tri-Star 3 race (300m swim, 6,000m bike, 2,400m run). Racing for Stratford were Ben Jones (3rd male), Joshua Angus (15th male), Will Crowfoot (16th male), Tom Crowfoot (17th male), Abbie Wootton (4th female), Hope Lawton (7th female) and Helena West (17th female).
