Stratford progress to semi-finals after thrilling play-off

STRATFORD-on-Avon Golf Club reached the semi-final of the Warwickshire Cup with the narrowest of victories over Harborne last weekend.

Played in three sets of foursomes, a match was won, drawn and lost, resulting in an overall tie.

A pair from each team then entered a play-off in sudden death format. James Smith and Nick Ford won with a par to move Stratford into the last four.

Meanwhile, at the Captain’s Scramble, 100 members enjoyed the ever-popular Texas Scramble format, with James Hanse, Gen Schofield, Rob Copperthwaite and Mike Salmon taking the spoils.

Runners-up were Matt Hunt, Matt Murphy, Wayne Weatherhead and Malcolm Rouse, while president Bob Scott, Alexander Scott, Jon Bolger and Colin Brice were third.

Members enjoyed the customary brunch and presentation following the game.
