Stratford set for third after beating Burton
STRATFORD look set for a third-placed finish in Midlands 1 West following Saturday's impressive victory at Burton.
The Black and Whites produced a strong second-half performance to win 24-6, with tries from Callum Cook and James Southall.
Nathan Geekie converted one of the scores and added four penalties.
"The result was good, but the performance was a little lacklustre," said Stratford director of rugby Tom Rance.
"Burton is a difficult place to go though and we have players who have been with the club for 15 years and never previously won there."
Bournville are near-certainties to claim the division's play-off spot thanks to their 27-8 victory over Whitchurch.
Meanwhile, Stratford's second string thrashed Old Laurentrians 89-0 to put themselves on the brink of league glory. A win at home to Newbold next Saturday would seal the title.
