STRATFORD Town have issued a statement saying they are “looking forward” to meeting the club’s newly-formed independent supporters’ association.

In last week’s Herald, the Stratford Town Independent Supporters' Association called on the club’s board of directors to be more transparent.

The group, headed by chairman Rob Maisey, said the football club needed to be more open in its communications with supporters, while also stressing a desire to help the club in any way they can.

In response, the club said in a statement: “Stratford Town FC are looking forward to meeting the STISA to discuss their role and to understand how they want to help the club on an on-going basis.

“If there is something that can be achieved which does not overlap with the club’s current commercial activities, then the directors will be very pleased to discuss ideas with the ISA and work alongside them in attaining any benefits for the continued success of the club.

“As volunteers ourselves, the directors are always keen to recruit all types of other volunteers and actively advertise on the website and in the match programme.

“Recently the club have been successful in securing extra groundstaff, who are critical to the day-to-day upkeep of the property.”

STISA chairman Maisey has welcomed board’s response and is hoping to arrange a meeting this month.

He said: “I have now received a response from the board and we have replied accordingly.

“We’re very pleased to hear they are willing to talk to us and want to work together.

“We have given them five dates in November that we are all available to have a meeting.”

STISA’s next meeting will take place this Monday at the DCS Stadium at 8pm. Further details can be found at www.stratfordtownisa.com
