Stratford Town 'not managing games well enough'

CARL Adams says Stratford Town must be better at managing games in the wake of Saturday's defeat to Basingstoke.

For the second game in succession, Town failed to capitalise from a winning position as they went down 2-1 at the Ark Cancer Charity Stadium.

Richard Gregory scored his tenth goal of the season to put Stratford into an early lead, but Basingstoke equalised halfway through the first half and then hit the winner with ten minutes to go.

Adams was delighted with his players' effort, but says they must start learning from their mistakes ahead of a daunting run of league fixtures.

"We put so much into the game and all the lads put in great shifts," said the Town boss.

"But we are not managing games well enough at the minute.

"Twice in successive weeks we have conceded goals on the counter-attack and we have to start learning from these errors.

"It's frustrating as it's another sob story for us. There are fine margins in football and we are suffering on the wrong side at the moment."

Town are back at the DCS on Tuesday night to take on high-flying Slough Town, before a tough away trip at Merthyr on Saturday.
