Stratford Town Youth sink Stourbridge to maintain title challenge
STRATFORD Town Youth maintained their title challenge in MFYL Premier Division South with a 4-2 win at Stourbridge on Wednesday evening, writes Bryan Hale.
Both sides made a cautious start, but halfway through the first half a typically opportunist finish from Dylan Parker gave Town the lead.
The Glassboys equalised only a couple of minutes later, but almost immediately after, a sumptuous long-range strike from Ben Couki restored Town’s advantage and that was extended a minute or so before the break.
And inevitably it was the prolific Parker who was on the mark again as he rounded the keeper to slot home his 16th league goal of the season and his 20th in all competitions.
Not only is he Town’s leading marksman, but he also tops the MFYL’s scoring charts.
With Town now comfortably on top, James Pomeroy made it 4-1 midway through the second half and although the Glassboys pulled one back late on, the points were already safely heading back to the DCS.
