Stratford's Beamer qualifies for ASA Nationals
STRATFORD Sharks swimmer Tom Beamer has realised his dream after qualifying for the Amateur Swimming Association Summer Nationals which take place in Sheffield in August.
Beamer is a specialist 200m butterfly swimmer, an event that has been made famous by names like Mark Spitz, world record holder Michael Phelps and more recently Chad le Clos.
Beamer is a pupil at Alcester Grammar School and aside from his studying, he still finds the time to volunteer twice a week to help with the Sharks Academy gold squad sessions.
Alison Ireland, lead coach for Sharks Academy, said: “It is wonderful that Tom is able to find time to help the younger swimmers, they really look up to him.
“Tom’s fly technique is excellent and the young swimmers watch and learn. He is an excellent teacher who is full of enthusiasm for the sport.”
