Trophies galore for Stratford Tri Club
STRATFORD Tri Club celebrated with trophies galore at the West Midlands Junior Triathlon Series awards evening held in Tamworth last week.
The awards ceremony celebrates the achievements of the junior triathletes after a hard fought season comprising of eight races.
The winner of each race earns 10,000 points with each place thereafter earning a reducing number of points depending on their finishing time in relation to the race winner.
The league table is then collated based on the best four results for each athlete over the season.
Molly Bullock was crowned Midlands champion in the Tri Star 1 girls’ category with a stunning 39,765 points from her best four finishes, including three first place finishes and one second place finish giving her a deserved first place trophy.
Stratford were also represented by Georgia Pridham (12th place) and Kate Pridham (13th place), who both enjoyed an excellent season.
Stratford celebrated another podium finish in the Tri Star 1 boys’ category with Jake Deaner finishing in an excellent third place with a points total of 38,872 for the season.
Fine performances from Theo Skirvin (7th place) and Oscar Fines-Allin (10th place) highlighted the growing depth within the Stratford squad.
In the Tri Star 2 girls’ category, Ellie Deaner (8th place), Charlotte Marshall (12th place), Freya Fines-Allin (19th place) and Lucy Sainsbury (22nd place) should all be proud of their achievements this season.
Joel Watson was the sole representative for the club in the Tri Star 2 boys’ category finishing in a terrific sixth place.
Abbie Wootton topped off a fine season finishing in an impressive second place in the Tri Star 3 girls’ category with a stunning 39,041 points from her best four results, including two victories.
Finally, in the Tri Star 3 boys’ category Stratford celebrated another champion with Ben Jones taking the Midlands title with a fabulous 39,876 points for the season.
It was also time to celebrate in the team category with Stratford finishing in third place overall — a fantastic achievement.
“I’m proud of the achievements of everyone who raced for the club,” said head coach, Richard Cox.
“I’m also pleased to have four athletes finishing in the top three in their respective divisions as this was richly deserved following a hard season of racing.”
Club chairman Paul Hawkins also congratulated the entire Junior Tri section for putting the Stratford Tri Club juniors section well and truly on the map with their third place team finish, representing a fantastic achievement.
