VIDEO: Adams ready to unleash Magee on Histon

The 26-year-old, who hails from Moreton-in-Marsh, started his career with Bristol City before enjoying successful stints in America and Iceland.

Magee attracted interest from Manchester United and Aston Villa as a youngster, but a run of bad injuries saw him opt for a move abroad in a bid to prove himself.

After a prolific three years at Rockhurst University in Missouri, Magee headed to Iceland where he played for UMF Tindastoll before he was snapped up by professional top-flight side Fjolnir.

It is a surprising move from Town and one that has come about thanks to midfielder Jack Roberts, who is a close friend of Magee’s.

“He’s coming in out of the blue,” said Town boss Carl Adams.

“He’s looked very good in training. He will work hard for us and run the channels.

“We certainly need the bodies and the door is open for him. He will be in the reckoning for Saturday.”

Adams will be keen to move on quickly after what he called a ‘very poor’ performance at Dunstable on Tuesday night.

Town went down 3-1 and looked a shadow of the side that secured victory over St Neots on Saturday.

“I know I’ve said it before, but we haven’t played that many times recently and it was just too much for us,” said Adams.

“We had two lads go off with hamstring problems, one sent off and again the rustiness has come through.

“I really believe the result was down to the stop-start nature of the season.

“There are no excuses though. We were very poor and too many of our players were well below par.”
