Warwick's Willis fails to reach Wimbledon after losing final qualifier

MARCUS Willis' hopes of another surprise Wimbledon run were ended by Ukrainian ninth seed Illya Marchenko in the final round of qualifying.
The Warwick Boat Club coach won seven matches before losing to Swiss great Roger Federer in the second round last year.
The world number 374 could not repeat the feat 12 months later, going down 6-4 6-1 7-6 (7-4) to Marchenko.
Willis was not helped by a knee injury, suffered late on during the second set when he fell to the turf awkwardly.
The 26-year-old will still be at Wimbledon this summer though, after being handed a wildcard to the men's doubles.
