JAMES Robbins struck twice as Alcester Town maintained their Midland League Division Three promotion push with a 2-0 success over Enville at Hall Drive on Saturday.

The former Alcester player-boss scored his first goal of the season in the 30th minute and wrapped up the points with a second ten minutes from time.

“The result comes first and we delivered," said Alcester manager Danny Janes.

"The game was very one sided if I am honest, I can’t remember Enville having a shot. We were in complete control from start to finish, but we missed a lot of chances and that could have cost us.

"It could have been six or seven and we need to ensure we are ruthless so that we can kill games off.”

Local rivals FC Stratford remain a point above Alcester in fourth following a 2-0 win at Inkberrow.

Nicholas Cox and Dean Poulson were the men on target for Dave Poulson's side, who go head-to-head with Alcester on Tuesday night at the MoodChimp Stadium.

Shipston Excelsior cruised to a 5-1 success at bottom club Leamington Hibernian thanks to strikes from Neil Wilson (2), James Drinkwater (2) and Shaye Eden.

Following their surprise defeat to FC Stratford last Monday, GNP Sports were back firing as they thrashed Central Ajax 7-2.

Adam Knight helped himself to a hat-trick to go with goals from Ryan Price (2), Josh O'Grady and James Bryson.

In Midland League Division One, Racing Club Warwick were beaten 4-3 at newly-crowned champions Walsall Wood, while Littleton were edged out 1-0 at home to Brocton.

Studley hit back from 3-0 down to secure a point in a 3-3 draw with Uttoxeter at The Beehive. Lewis Clarke (2) and Andrew Nichol netted for the Bees.

In Midland League Division Two, Earlswood Town slipped to their third successive defeat as they went down 3-0 at home to Moors Academy.
