FC STRATFORD crashed out of the Birmingham Vase following a shock defeat to Stratford Alliance side Henley Forest on Saturday.

Henley scored an 89th-minute winner as they sealed a 2-1 victory over their Midland League opponents.

Shipston Excelsior also went out, after they were swept aside 5-2 at Whitnash. Jake Harris and Nick Shurmer struck in vain for Shipston.

Alcester Town progressed after winning a penalty shoot-out in their first-round clash at Birmingham outfit CPA.

With the score locked at 2-2 at full-time, Danny Janes' men held their nerve to win 4-3 on spot kicks. Robbie Davies and Leon Blundell got the Alcester goals.

Earlswood Town are also through thanks to a 2-1 win at Coventry Alliance outfit Jaguar Daimler.

In Midland League Division One, rock-bottom Southam United lost 3-0 at home to Stafford Town, while fellow strugglers Studley were thrashed 6-0 by Nuneaton Griff.

There was better news for Littleton, who secured their third league success of the campaign with a 2-1 victory at Bolehall Swifts. Daniel Carter and Daniel Holloway got the vital goals.

Wade Malley and Jake Brown were on target for Racing Club Warwick as they earned a point in a 2-2 draw with Coventry Copsewood.
